Week 25

After the 3lb loss last week, half a pound has sneaked on. No, I am not worried because it was all about personal achievement and ‘first's’ this week, and this week I feel really good.
I went swimming 3 times – Not feeling quite so self conscious in the cossie now but not quite bikini body yet
I played squash for the first time in years – Ok, didn’t move the legs much (no change there then) but one thing at a time.
I walked 3.5 miles for the first time between Hayling Island Bridge and Emsworth Quay around Langstone Harbour– oh so beautiful (doggy friendly walk with decent doggy friendly pubs at each end).

On my second walk I extended the Harbour walk to a point to point from Emsworth Marina to Northney Marina –a total of 5 miles and to be very truthful my legs did ache a little afterwards.
I put on a pair of shorts this week that I have not been able to wear for 4 years and they slid on... another mini step forward before I consider hitting the internet for a pair of retro hotpants! Now, talking of hotpants, look at this gorgeous picture of my mum aged 29ish. Now ladies, that's how you wear hotpants.

I put on my lifejacket for the first time this boating season....and had to tighten the straps by a few inches...even across the boob area!
I also signed up to my first charity bike ride this week - as per my promise on my bucket list. My target is to lose 42lbs by the day of the ride. I have lost 35lbs so I need to lose 7lbs in the next 6 weeks to put another tick in the box. Every pound lost beforehand is going to make that hilly 25 mile ride easier!

Generally though, I have found that it is the simple things in life that become easier when you lose weight, like painting your toe nails or reversing your car (not at the same time obviously), climbing the stairs, putting on shoes etc etc...Little achievements all the way. Half a pound on is not a reflection of my achievement this week and for the first time in forever I think I might be approaching this weight loss journey like a grown up....well some of the time anyway. Slowly, slowly and making the most of my new capabilities along the way
So forward we go my little chicka dees, chipping away at the next half a stone. Upping the cycling and booking my first horse riding lesson this week - should be good for a photo opportunity that's for sure. All good. All very good.
Thirty five pounds of fat overboard captain, with thirty five pounds being chased at the helm. Sx

Week 24

There she blows me hearties!  3lbs off, 35.5 pounds lost in total.  This means my little chicka dees that I have stormed through the half way mark and at last the pounds left to lose are less than the pounds I have already lost.  Green shiny sticker on the front of the book and big green 2.5 stones certificate on the front of the fridge.  Oh yes, losing those last couple of pounds to get to the half way mark was like crossing the Gobi desert in flip flops.
So let’s have a look at the Bucket List now.

So, time to find a poor unsuspecting cart horse to achieve my first riding lesson in years.  I think I shall wear my ‘Gloria Padded Shorts’ and a small covering of sudocreme just to be prepared.  The thought of my undercarriage being pummelled by both types of saddle this week is not a comforting thought.
So at last, over the half way marker and so pleased to be saying thirty five and a half a pound of fat gone, thirty four and a half a pound and counting. Sx

Week 23

Mountain charged and padded shorts arrived but, again, only the half a pound off this week. Now, unlike last week where I fell a little bit to pieces, I feel absolutely on track.
As much as I think we all harbour a little bit of an obsession with our bathroom scales and what they tell us, I think it is important to focus on how we feel, how our clothes feel and what we see in the mirror.  I have loads more energy, my clothes are looser and my shape is much more toned.  Yes, I have a long way to go but the results are coming.  I realise now (thanks to the encouragement, leg slaps and input of others) that the scales are only telling part of my story and that my fat burning army will continue at a pace suited to my body.
Onwards and upwards... today in freezing temperatures, we braved Thorpe Park and a much more enjoyable experience than the last time I went to a theme park. Here is a snippet from my very first blog, 23 weeks ago after spending a day at Chessington;

I almost had an embarrassing experience on the Vampire ride which has a drop down harness which clicks into place. Two attempts and my boobs ended up east and west and almost acting as ear muffs. Another lady who got on the ride before me wasn’t so lucky and embarrassingly had to get off the ride as her harness would not lock into place. I couldn’t help feeling that that could be me next year.”

I had such a different experience today.  Harnesses clicking easily into place, running around for hours in sub zero temperatures and riding all the thrill rides.   If you are going to be cold then might as well add 62 metres in height, 130 km/h and a G-force of 4.5.  Oh yes my little chicka dees, mummy did Stealth.

I am not sure whether you caught this news story but if it had emerged on Monday I would have been convinced that it was an April Fools Joke.  Apparently Samoa Air is now offering a new reason to lose weight before your next flight - tickets are to be sold not by the seat, but by the kilogram.
As of today, they have planned to start pricing their first international flights based on the weight of its passengers and their bags. Depending on the flight, each kilogram (2.2 pounds) costs 93 cents (62p) to 1.06 US dollars (70p).
I have no idea how they are going to police this but if I ever find myself travelling Samoa Air,  you will undoubtably be able to spot me at check in.  I will be the one standing there in a bra, pants and flip flops.

Here we go then, cobwebs blown away, thirty two and a half a pound of roller coaster fat gone, thirty seven and a half a  pound and counting. Sx
