Weeks 26 & 27

Horseshoes and handlebars this week my little chicka dees with a 2lb weight loss to boot! And don’t talk to me about saddles.... Good lord.  I am bruised in places that I had forgotten I had.  Two glorious pounds off, after last week’s half pound gain and rocking along with confidence in the right direction again.
On my bucket list I stated that when my weight loss reached 34lbs I would book myself in for a horse riding lesson.  Madness I know but true to my word this week, ‘Blue’ and I bonded for a half an hour of not so harmonious movement.  I kid you not; he needs a little bit more practice on his rising trot.  My bottom, even without the 2½ stone of extra ballast, seemed to hit the saddle at all sorts of peculiar angles.  Undercarriage in a state of shock, calf muscles with cramp and knees bruised....I really cannot remember the last time I felt like that...... hmmm.

Now, as if that wasn’t enough pummelling for my bottom this week, Gloria and I padded up and headed out onto the open roads to see what chaos we could cause in training for our charity LIDBA bike ride challenge.
Oh god the pain.  I am not a natural cyclist and each hill burned and burned, so much so that I had to walk up most of them. We must have only covered a distance of 10 miles but it was so hard.  In 4 weeks time I need to complete the full 25 miles and I want to be 5.5lbs lighter as per my bucket list target which should make the going a little bit easier.  This is not going to be easy by any means but if going up the hills is murder, going down the steep hills is brilliant fun.  I only consumed half a dozen bugs and a couple of bits of blossom whilst gasping for breath on the descents and am pretty sure even though they are not on the diet plan, they will not upset the weight loss this week.  Oh and just so Gloria doesn’t get jealous about ‘blue’ having a photograph in the blog this week, here she is, looking sexy in the sunshine.
As I mentioned last week, I have started to play squash again. If there was ever a game to make you feel old, squash is it.  Now, I have played this game since I was 15 years old and as much as I would like to believe that nothing much has changed in my game, there are a few definite indicators to confirm that they have.  Firstly, you know when you are getting older because it almost takes you as long to stretch and warm up than to actually play the game.  Secondly, the fear factor of pulling something is immense and thirdly your ability to turn the colour of your face into every shade between pink and purple increases and you are able to generate a colour palette second only to that of Microsoft.
Chip, chip, chipping away at the weight loss...Thirty six and a half a pound of fat bounced away....thirty three and a half a pound and counting. Sx
