Hurrah! 2.5lbs off and thank goodness because that was one of the longest weeks of my life. I undertook two challenges this week. The first was to abstain from the consumption of alcohol for one whole week. How stupid was that? From the minute I sent my blog, Sainsbury’s took it upon themselves to promote 25% off all wine if you buy 6 bottles. Not helpful. Also, the weather has been so extreme that one night I fancied port in front of our open fire followed by then craving a glass of crisp white in the sunshine the next. On top of all this, a handful of family members ended up being very poorly in different hospitals with different concerns. Now, how selfish was that on my booze free week? I didn’t need the worry on top of everything else thank you. Anyway, I would like to tell you all that I shall be continuing in the same healthy vein this week but alas I have already spectacularly fallen off the wagon and it was all my sisters’ fault. Honestly it was. I watched an episode of fat families this week and Steve Miller delivered the factoid that it takes approximately 600 star jumps to burn up one large glass of wine.
So, going by the volume of consumption on Tuesday, we probably need to
embrace some kind of Guinness World Challenge to get back on some kind of an even keel. Clearly
any excuse for us both to darn our leotards again.
Moving on now to my second challenge this week and the introduction of
scan bran in my diet. Scan bran comes in
packets of 10, looks like dark cardboard, tastes like cardboard and is very,
very high in fibre. It is a Slimming World product and is meant to make you
feel full and inhibit your desire to overeat.
I lasted two days. I looked and
felt like an effervescent hippo and was extremely cautious during this time to
leave the safety of my own home. Sorry
Slimming World, I am a Ryvita girl at heart and always will be.
And just to finish up this week my little chicka dees, I leave
you with Peter Kay and his wonderful ‘take’ on Slimming World. He summarises it perfectly.
